My name is John Carvosso and I was  one of the long line of Vicars of the Parish of Tawstock. We moved into Tawstock Rectory  in July 1984 and I retired in January 2011.

During those very enjoyable 26 years of rural ministry I set up the Tawstock History Society. It met for just over  17 years and we produced 4 books (see elsewhere on website for details) .

So this website is , in a sense, a  result of those years and in tribute to 3 of the main working members _David Nash, Ivon Smallridge and Brian Pearce.

My memories website (www.trgow.net) shows some of the events during 3 years(1992-1995) of our time in Tawstock and has some interesting videos of parish life-one of which shows a happy

Tawstock History Society fun evening in the village hall

I hope that this website will be helpful both for everyone who has Tawstock roots and for everyone who has an interest in this lovely old rural parish with its own special people, events and way of life through the generations.

It's value will be especially helpful if it brings the joy of history

to those who use it .Perhaps you can contribute too by adding your own Tawstock memories/stories ++. They will help it develop all things 'Tawstock'

It is hoped that , as the site develops, it will become more and more 'comprehensive' in explaining the special fascination of 'rural life' which we found so enjoyable during our 26 years within its community.

If you have your own contributions I should be most interested

to chat with you so that we can incorporate them into our website.
